Advocacy & Education

Focused on delivering an understanding of music therapy and its benefits.

Raising awareness and sharing knowledge.

Over the last 50 years, music therapy has spread across North America and is still growing today, reaching more and more health and psychosocial professionals. But we believe that more can be done, hoping that it will be prescribed to a greater number of people.

For the Institute, awareness starts with knowing and understanding. By sharing information and sources of references, our aim is to equip the health community and other professionals offering their services to populations that could benefit from it. We make available  with relevant data and access to resources that provide insights into how music therapy can be a valuable and effective part of their intervention plans.

The Resources section of our website is one of those initiatives aimed at sharing knowledge, a database of references that will continue to grow with time.

In addition, we plan on developing training programs, workshops and other communication tools, in partnership with professional associations, as well as teaching and health institutions. By advancing and diffusing a wealth of knowledge to future and practicing healthcare professionals, we can help the benefits of music therapy reach a greater part of their respective clientele.

My dream is that one day, health professionals will reach such an understanding of how music therapy can help various physical, cognitive and emotional conditions that they prescribe it as naturally as they do physiotherapy after a broken leg.
